Starter Brass

Starter Brass is our beginner ensemble, designed for people with little or no previous musical experience, as well as newer players who want to gain confidence and develop their playing. Whether you've discovered us through one of our outreach workshops or simply decided to give brass playing a try, Starter Brass provides a welcoming and supportive environment to learn.

Members are taught the fundamentals of brass playing, from producing their first notes and reading music to developing ensemble skills. For newer players, it offers the opportunity to consolidate these skills, build confidence, and gain valuable playing experience. The aim is to prepare everyone to progress into either our Training Brass (up to 18) or Community Brass (18+) bands as soon as they are ready.
