Welcome to Youth Brass – the next step in your musical journey.
Building on the foundations developed in Training Band, Youth Band offers young musicians the opportunity to further develop their confidence, musicianship, and performance skills in a supportive and inspiring environment. Players take on more challenging repertoire, strengthen their ensemble skills, and experience the excitement of performing as part of a dedicated and ambitious group.
We are proud to provide a safe, inclusive space where every player is encouraged to challenge themselves while feeling supported by experienced leaders and fellow musicians. Teamwork, respect, and encouragement are at the heart of everything we do.
As rehearsals focus on full band training, members should have a solid foundation in their instrument before joining. As a guide, players should be confident sight-readers, have a comfortable playing range of around two octaves, and be performing at approximately Grade 5 standard or equivalent. Members of the Training Band may be invited to attend Youth Band rehearsals when they are ready for the next challenge.
Youth Band is more than just a place to improve your playing – it is a vibrant musical community where friendships are formed, confidence grows, and young musicians are encouraged to reach their full potential. The band currently includes over 20 talented players aged between 9 and 17, drawing members from across North Surrey, East Berkshire, and West Middlesex.
If you are unsure whether Youth Band is the right fit for your child, please get in touch and we will be happy to advise.
The band is also available to perform at community and private events; please contact us to discuss your requirements.
